As if the Jets didn?t have enough to deal with?the?impending season and positions they need to shore up, they can add a court battle to that list.?A New Jersey realty company, who took the team to court in 2010,?is looking to?reopen its lawsuit against the franchise after?uncovering?new evidence. ?
Morris Plains realty company says it has ?newly discovered evidence? and is seeking to reopen its lawsuit claiming the New York Jets should have let it provide real estate services to the team?s employees.
The suit, filed in 2010, claimed that because the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, a public entity, leases the Jets their Florham Park training facility, the team must meet legal obligations faced by government entities.
Thus, the team should be required to publicly advertise for real estate services that it makes available to its employees, and should also set aside 7 percent of its contracts for minority-owned businesses, according to the suit filed by Destiny Realty, headed by Donnell Williams, an African-American man.
Seeing as I?m not a?justice and I don?t plan on becoming one, I?ll turn this one over to the good folks at Law &?Order.
