Stephan Bonnar took steroids to prepare for pro wrestling ? UFC News

Former light heavyweight contender of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Stephan Bonnar was recently caught using steroids for his last fight against middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Even though Bonnar was knocked out by the Spider in the very first round, he was tested after the fight for illegal substance and he failed. Weirdly, President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White believes Bonnar did it to train for professional wrestling.

?I haven?t talked to him since. I don?t hate him. I just don?t want to talk to him,? said Dana White on MMA Weekly. ?I think the thing that bums me out the most about the Stephan Bonnar thing is that he didn?t tell me.?

Although White?s explanation for Bonnar does not make sense, he still believes Bonnar did not do it to beat Silva.

Bonnar was planning retirement long before his fight against Silva was announced. When he got to know he had to face Silva, Bonnar was head over heels, believing he could make history by defeating the unbeaten Brazilian fighter.

While Silva crushed Bonnar?s dreams of glory, his own misdeeds spoiled his name even further.

?He wasn?t planning on fighting. He said that he was practicing to maybe do some pro wrestling and whatever the excuse is. I?ve known Stephan for a long time. We have a great relationship. Tell me,? added White.

Bonnar retired from the UFC with a record of 15 wins and 8 losses. He has not provided any explanations for his failed drug tests. The explanation White is providing is a wild assumption. Bonnar his now under one-year suspension, even though he fights for the UFC no more. In other words, he is punished but he is not really under any punishment. If he wishes to make a comeback, that is when he will have to face the consequences of adopting such illegal measures.

For now, Bonnar is probably in peace as he has nothing to do with the UFC anymore. If White is right, we will be seeing Bonnar in professional wrestling soon enough. Hopefully, he will not be on steroids by then.
