Nico Rosberg feels concerned about tyre degradation ahead of Chinese GP ? Formula 1 news

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that they are focussing to manage their tyres well in the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix after showing an admirable pace in the Friday practice.

Rosberg set the fastest time in the first free Friday practice session at Shanghai International Circuit in China and seemed very strong behind the wheel of his car. However, he struggled a little bit during the second session on soft Pirelli compound tyres. Therefore, he has asserted that they have to manage their tyres really well in order to attain good results in the third race of the season.

It is to be noted that the German driver performed impressively well in China during the preceding season as he successfully claimed his maiden victory after securing his first ever pole position.

The 27-year-old has said that they have gathered some valuable information during the practice sessions with which they can make considerable developments for the race. But, he insisted that they still need to do a lot of work to improve their long run pace and tyre management.

?It was good to be back on the track here in Shanghai where I have experienced some really good moments in my career,? he said. ?I felt very comfortable in the car and it was a productive day for us, we definitely learnt a lot. We looked good on one lap, but there is some work still to do on the longer runs. Tyre degradation was particularly high on the option tyre out there today. So we need to analyse this and decide what is best to do in the race.?

On the other hand, Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that he is extremely pleased with their developments as they have managed to construct a well-balanced car. In addition, he said that both their drivers are feeling very much positive about their cars and they are confidently looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming race. He also said that they need to show some good pace in the qualifying so as to start the race from competitive grid slots.
