Let me start off by saying I?m super excited to be this month?s guest blogger! [Raises the roof.] I?ve been chatting it up with the JC team since we met in February at the Project Tradeshow in Vegas, and I think it is just fitting for my debut post to be a little bit about my zip code in Brooklyn, 11218. The 11218 zip code encompasses Kensington, Ditmas Park, and sections of Flatbush.

Cortelyou Road; small business central!

I?ve lived in Kensington my entire life and am quite pleased to see the way it is evolving. There are tons of small businesses on Cortelyou Road that have popped up over the years, mainly that in the restaurant category. I want to share two of my favorites.

QATHRA
1112 Cortelyou Rd.
Brooklyn, NY 11218

Qathra is a coffee shop and restaurant serving up some of the best coffee and tea concoctions alongside yummy pastries from Balthazar Bakery. My favorites are their caramel latte and iced white peach blossom tea.

BISTRO 915
915 Cortelyou Rd.
Brooklyn, NY 11218

Bistro 915 is a quaint American-style bistro serving up the freshest food in healthy portions. They are known for their pasta dishes, but my personal favorite is their grilled chicken Panini, delectable!

Cozy interiors; love the shade of green they use on their borders!

Favorite meal: Grilled chicken Panini with plum tomatoes, carmelized onions, prosiciutto, and basil aioli, with a side of Tuscan fries

Qathra and Bistro 915 are my favorites because they bring a fresh, well thought-out approach to food and drink to 11218. I?ll be back next week with more fun things to share in this lovely place I?m happy to call home, New York City.
