Well not many of you can say on a Monday morning you?re off to catch a flight to Rome to test drive the new Ford Fiesta, well I was and what an experience it was.
I'm not a motoring journalist just a mum of four with an opinion and who knows what I want from a car.
I drove the Fiesta with the 1.0 Eco Boost petrol engine which was so sleek and quiet to drive and I can honestly say what a stylish little number, something that both men and women would love to drive. A small car but with a big car feel, it?s everything and more that you could want from a car and other car manufacturers had better watch out .
Ford has sold 15 million Fiestas worldwide it is the most popular of all the ford vehicles and it has evolved into a sharp sleek little motor boasting a new power dome bonnet, front grill and laser cut head lights. The fiesta comes in 3 or 5 door. The interior has also had a makeover with its high gloss finish for the instrument and central panel, new blue light features for dials switches and displays and on the new titanium X series even the seat belts have a trim that matches the cars colour.
Under the bonnet the Fiesta will have for the first time in the UK 100ps and 125 PS 1.0 litre Eco Boost petrol engine which have won the International Engine of the Year for 2012 which Ford must be very proud of.
The auto stop system also helps fuel economy by shutting down the engine when the vehicle is stationary and when you put your foot on the pedal to move off the engine automatically starts. To some of the new ford Fiesta ranges there will be a 6 speed power shift transmission.
On the road the new Fiesta suspension gives a far better ride its very comfortable with new seating added, and while taking corners it?s as though the car is glued to the road it makes you feel safe and in control.
The SYNC system allows you to control your music, phone calls all voice activated via Blue Tooth or USB. This SYNC system has another incredible feature, in the case of an emergency where the air bags are activated the system automatically contacts emergency services no matter where you are what country you are in. It speaks to them in their language but speaks to you in English so no matter where you are help will be on its way. You do have the choice to de activate it, if help isn?t required.
Active City Stop, A clever feature designed to help stop accidents by stopping you rolling into the car in front it activates the brakes. With cars behind if an accident is imminent it will automatically active your rear hazards
Mykey - This is one for me as a mum of teenagers, (one not far off starting driving lessons), the key can be programmed to limit the top speed of the vehicle. This feature I tried to over-ride during my test drive, ?and it just would not happen. The Mykey can also be ?programmed to tell the driver when the petrol is low which is yet another great benefit.
The new ford Fiesta will be available show rooms early 2013 and comes in 7 engine options and prices will start from ?9,795.00on the road in the UK
In my opinion the new Fiesta is a brilliant small car which I really enjoyed driving, with lots of built in extras a stylish exterior, chic interior, and safety at the fore front
