Allen Jack + Cottier?s innovative Milson Island Indoor Sports Stadium won two major industry awards last
week, taking the top honour in the Buildings - Small Projects category at the Australian Steel Institute (ASI) Awards NSW & ACT, and the COLORBOND? Award for Steel Architecture at the 2012 Architecture Institute Awards NSW (AIA).
The Milson Island sports hall is the latest of a number of award-winning sporting facilities designed by
AJ+C, including the World Architecture Festival Award winning Berry Sport and Recreation Centre, Lake
Ainsworth and Broken Bay, Sport and Recreation Centre?s, Blue Mountains Aquatic Centre, Blacktown
Football Park and the recently completed Western Grandstand at WIN Stadium.
Michael Heenan, Principal, design and CEO of Allen Jack+Cottier (AJ+C) led the design team for the
innovative and site responsive Indoor Stadium for school children, for the Department of Sport and
Recreation.
